We are partnering with Emmanuel International (EI) in their work in Tanzania, having built up a strong link through Andrew and Miriam Wingfield and their family who headed up the work in Tanzania from 2005-2018 before coming to serve here at Union Baptist as Associate Pastor.

EI works in partnership with local churches to encourage and equip them to meet the needs of their communities, physically as well as spiritually. In the Iringa region of Tanzania, EI is providing training and practical help to churches working with their communities to bring clean water supply and improved sanitation.

In the IMARIKA project, project staff run mobilisation seminars in local churches using games and bible studies to help the churches to understand and realise their role in the community. Action groups are then trained in conservation agriculture, tree planting, fuel efficient stoves and village community banks.

In 2014, Union Baptist Church sent a team to work with EI in the village of Ikuka. The team helped the community in the construction of a health centre and ran a children’s club in the church.

We are supporting two Tanzanian workers who were trained by Andrew and Miriam.
